33rd Forum of the IOTA Principal Contact Persons in Warsaw, Poland

From 24 to 26 March 2026, the 33rd Forum of the Principal Contact Persons of IOTA took place in Warsaw, Poland, hosted by the Polish Tax Administration. The event brought together 51 PCPs and 12 IOTA Secretariat members to discuss priorities, operational challenges, and the organisation's future directions.

The Forum opened with welcoming remarks from the host administration, followed by a speech from Alix Perrignon de Troyes, Executive Secretary of IOTA, who introduced the agenda and welcomed newly appointed PCPs and Shadow PCPs. The first plenary session provided a forward-looking overview of IOTA’s activities in 2026, including highlights of the Implementation Plan, Work Programme, international cooperation, peer-to-peer technical assistance, observer updates, and IT strategy.

Discussions throughout the Forum were shaped by contributions from both the IOTA Secretariat speakers and participants. Ugnė Daunoravičienė, Lithuanian PCP to IOTA, presented key findings on the daily work of PCPs, focusing on identified challenges and practical solutions. The IOTA Secretariat delivered several presentations, including feedback on the IOTA web portal, guidance on enhancing engagement in digital and hybrid events, and an overview of the Technical Enquiry service, addressing both its usage and related challenges.

Interactive group sessions played a central role, enabling PCPs to exchange experiences with IOTA Country Coordinators, discuss expectations, and explore solutions to common challenges. Further sessions animated by PCPs addressed the impact of 2025 budget-restriction measures on member engagement and examined proposals from the Technical Activities Working Group regarding the use of the financial surplus. These discussions were complemented by a presentation by the Financial Advisory Committee (FAC) on the update of its work, and the outcomes of the tasks given by the EC (financial assessment of the proposals of the TAWG and possible adjustments to financial regulations to use the surplus) should be presented at a future EC meeting.

The final day placed the future in focus, with sessions dedicated to preparations for IOTA’s 30th anniversary in 2026 and updates on the upcoming 30th General Assembly in Budapest. This jubilee milestone offers a valuable opportunity to reflect on how far IOTA has come since its foundation in 1996, and to recognise the commitment, expertise, and cooperation of our Members and partners. All materials, presentations and the video recording are now accessible online via the event's webpage. IOTA extends its sincere gratitude to the Polish host tax administration for their excellent organisation and warm hospitality, which contributed greatly to the success of the Forum.
