On 6–7 May 2026, IOTA, in close cooperation with the Georgia Revenue Service, had the pleasure of organising the Forum on Combating VAT Fraud in Tbilisi, Georgia. The event brought together VAT experts from IOTA member tax administrations, international partner organisations, and enforcement bodies.
On 29–30 April 2026, IOTA successfully held the Case Study Workshop on Advanced Transfer Pricing Issues in Budapest, Hungary, bringing together 37 tax officials from across the IOTA membership.
On 22–23 April 2026, IOTA had the pleasure of organising a Digital Workshop on Identity and eGovernment in the Tax Domain, bringing together experts from member tax administrations, international partner organisations and the business world to explore the role of digital identity in modern tax systems.
IOTA is pleased to announce its latest publication, the IOTA Report on Implementation of Country-By-Country Reporting into Internal Rules and Procedures, created by a dedicated Subgroup within the IOTA Forum on BEPS. The Report was successfully finalised in March 2026.
On 15–16 April 2026, the Intra-European Organisation of Tax Administrations (IOTA) participated in the Southeast Europe Tax Collection and Debt Management Community of Practice, hosted by the International Monetary Fund (IMF) at the Joint Vienna Institute in Vienna, Austria. IOTA was represented by Ivana Donchevska, International Taxation Expert, who contributed to the programme by presenting insights from the IOTA subgroup’s project on the Automation of Tax Debt Management Processes.
On 17 April 2026, IOTA delivered another engaging online event from the IOTA 2026 Work Programme Calendar, a webinar on Debt Recovery Challenges in E-Commerce and the Sharing Economy, bringing together over 100 experts from 27 IOTA member tax administrations to discuss emerging issues in tax debt collection in an increasingly digitalised environment.
On 8–9 April 2026, IOTA successfully held the Digital Workshop on Artificial Intelligence in Risk Analysis: Balancing Automation and Human Judgment, bringing together over 160 experts from member tax administrations along with representatives from international partner organisations and academia to explore the application of AI in risk analysis and compliance activities.
Poland From 24 to 26 March 2026, the 33rd Forum of the Principal Contact Persons of IOTA took place in Warsaw, Poland, hosted by the Polish Tax Administration. The event brought together 51 PCPs and 12 IOTA Secretariat members to discuss priorities, operational challenges, and the organisation's future directions.
On 11–12 March 2026, IOTA organised the Digital Workshop on the Use of Alternative Payment Systems in Cross-Border VAT Fraud Schemes, bringing together over 300 tax officials, data analysts, and technical specialists from IOTA member administrations to explore emerging fraud risks linked to alternative payment systems (APS). It was a great honour to have representatives from the IOTA international partner organisations, such as the European Public Prosecutor's Office (EPPO) and EUROPOL.
On 4 March 2026, IOTA organised the first digital event of the year, the ‘Webinar on the Use of VITARA for L&D/HR Professionals,’ listed in the IOTA 2026 Work Programme Calendar, which brought together over 170 experts and practitioners from the IOTA membership and beyond to explore how digital learning solutions can enhance capacity building in tax administrations.
Portugal The Portuguese Tax and Customs Authority (Autoridade Tributária e Aduaneira, AT) is pleased to announce that the latest issue of the Portuguese journal called “Ciência e Técnica Fiscal” (CTF) is now available online. This issue results from the work of authors from the Centre for Tax and Customs Studies (CEF) of Portugal’s Tax and Customs Authority (AT), along with other contributors, notably from academia, who focus on important and current tax and customs issues.
