IOTA Celebrates the Inaugural Day of Excellence in Taxation 2025 Across Member Administrations

For the first time in IOTA's history, the Day of Excellence in Taxation was celebrated among the membership at the end of October—a new initiative recognising outstanding professionals who demonstrate exceptional achievement in international taxation. During this inaugural event, IOTA members from Georgia, Hungary, Lithuania, Moldova, and Slovakia participated in the newly established tradition.

The Day of Excellence in Taxation, initiated by the National Tax and Customs Administration of Hungary (NTCA) in conjunction with the founding of IOTA on October 30, 1996, is open to member tax administrations that wish to participate. Recipients receive a personalised recognition certificate, jointly awarded by IOTA’s President and Executive Secretary, and provided by the IOTA Secretariat. This event, approved by the 29th IOTA General Assembly on June 17, 2025, took place for the first time this year, aligning with IOTA’s 29th anniversary.

In Georgia, the Revenue Service honoured 21 employees during a ceremony led by Minister of Finance Lasha Khutsishvili and Revenue Service Head Irakli Beraia. Notable recipients included Beka Mamphoria, Elguja Loliashvili, Elizbar Furtseladze, Giorgi Kordzaia, Iago Qurashvili, Ilia Basilashvili, Irakli Shengelia, Kristina Azarashvili, Maia Fkhovelishvili, Mariam Margiani, Mariam Tsotskolauri, Salome Samadashvili, Sopio Bregvadze, Tamar Markozia, Teona Gurgenidze, Teona Khutsishvili, Teona Mikatsadze, and Tinatin Kvatashidze.

Hungary’s National Tax and Customs Administration observed the day on October 28, with 26 staff members receiving awards from the State Secretary, NTCA Commissioner, and IOTA President Ferenc Vágujhelyi. In Lithuania, the State Tax Inspectorate, led by Edita Janušienė, presented recognition certificates to Karolina Elžbieta Krutulytė, Ugnė Daunoraičienė, and Vitalija Burdeinaja, commending their professionalism and results.

At Moldova’s State Tax Service event, directed by Olga Golban, six certificates were awarded to exemplary staff members, accompanied by an informative presentation about IOTA’s 2025 structure, goals, and activities. Recipients included Adrian Platon, Domnica Cartera, Igor Lazari, Irina Margine, Mihaela Doroș, and Valentina Timofeev.

The Slovak Republic’s Financial Directorate recognised tax official Jana Jasová in a small ceremony hosted by Vice-President Bruno Patúš, reinforcing the growing tradition.

The Day of Excellence in Taxation serves to motivate and recognise outstanding work among tax professionals across IOTA’s network. It highlights the essential role these professionals play in establishing efficient, transparent, and modern tax systems worldwide.

As IOTA congratulates all awardees and wishes them continued success, it invites member tax administrations to participate in next year’s celebration scheduled for October 30, 2026.
