Day of Excellence in Taxation: A New Opportunity to Honour Staff for Exceptional Work in International Taxation
The Intra-European Organisation of Tax Administrations (IOTA) is delighted to present a new opportunity for its member tax administrations to recognise staff members who have exhibited exceptional professional achievement in the field of international taxation.
The Day of Excellence in Taxation, initiated by the National Tax and Customs Administration of Hungary (NTCA) in conjunction with the founding of IOTA on October 30, 1996, can be observed by member tax administrations that wish to participate. The recognition certificate, awarded jointly by the President and Executive Secretary of IOTA, is personalised and provided by the IOTA Secretariat.
This special event, approved by the 29th General Assembly of IOTA on June 17, 2025, in Baku, Azerbaijan, is being celebrated for the first time this year by member tax administrations, coinciding with IOTA’s 29th anniversary at the end of October.
In Hungary, the National Tax and Customs Administration celebrated this day on October 28, 2025. During the ceremony, 26 staff members received certificates from Mr Ferenc Vágujhelyi, the State Secretary and NTCA Commissioner, recognising their outstanding achievements in international taxation. Mr Vágujhelyi took over the role of IOTA President at the latest General Assembly from Azerbaijan for the 2025/2026 term, representing Hungary, which enabled him to present the awards as IOTA President. Mrs Alix Perrignon de Troyes, Executive Secretary of IOTA, also attended the event at NTCA Headquarters and delivered a welcome speech at the invitation of Commissioner Vágujhelyi.
