The common EU candidate for the position of WCO Secretary General is from Spain

The Government of Spain has nominated Ms Pilar Jurado, currently Director of the Customs and Excises Department of the Spanish Tax Agency, as candidate for the post of Secretary General of the World Customs Organization (WCO) in the upcoming elections that will take place on 30 June 2018 during the Council Sessions. 

Ms Jurado is the sole and common candidate of the European Union for the post.

Pilar Jurado stands for a better governance and better results in the WCO, for transparency, efficiency, innovation and flexibility. Her focus will also be on Trade Facilitation, Security, Capacity Building and Cooperation.
