The IOTA  member countries Lithuania, Portugal, and Belgium have recently shared experience in the framework of the IOTA Peer-to-Peer Technical Assistance Project “Segmentation of Debts and Data Mining for Debt Management”. This trilateral IOTA Peer-to-Peer Technical Assistance Project was successfully implemented by the Belgian General Administration for Collection and Recovery of the Federal Public Service Finance as the Provider and the State Tax Inspectorate of Lithuania and the Portuguese Tax and Customs administration as beneficiaries.

Over 290 tax officials registered for the event and we were pleased to have two speakers present in the IOTA studio: Dr Gábor Magyar from Hungary and Dr Angelis Alexopoulos from Greece, while Dr Ishan Costello from the United Kingdom joined the Webinar online.

On September 25th - 26th 2024, in collaboration with the State Tax Service under the Ministry of Economy of the Republic of Azerbaijan, IOTA had the privilege of organising the International Forum on Carbon Pricing in Baku, Azerbaijan. The event brought together over 60 taxation experts, specialists in tax legislation from IOTA member tax administrations, representatives from the business community and academia, as well as innovators from around the world. It served as an invaluable platform for sharing experiences and best international practices on carbon pricing mechanisms and their implementations.

From 1 to 3 October 2024, IOTA together with the Norwegian Tax Administration had the pleasure of organising the Meeting of the IOTA Forum on Tax Debt Management in Oslo, Norway, as a hybrid event. The Forum's theme was "Step Into the Future of Tax Debt Management with Cutting-Edge Technology" and it was attended by 60 tax officials in-person and by 70 participants online, coming from 33 IOTA member administrations, and from the OECD-FTA Tax Debt Management Network.

In recent weeks, Alix Perrignon de Troyes, the Executive Secretary of IOTA, represented IOTA at the International Forum on Carbon Pricing in Baku, Azerbaijan. The conference welcomed taxation experts, specialists in tax legislation from IOTA member tax administrations, representatives from international organisations, delegates from the business community and academia, as well as innovators from around the world to share their views on the existing and emerging carbon pricing mechanisms and their implementations.

Azerbaijani Presidency Visits the IOTA Secretariat

We are pleased to announce that the IOTA Secretariat had the pleasure of welcoming the representatives of the Azerbaijani IOTA Presidency on October 1st, 2024, in Budapest, Hungary. During the official visit, Mr Orkhan Nazarli, Head of the State Tax Service under the Ministry of Economy of the Republic of Azerbaijan and IOTA President, along with his delegation, had a fruitful meeting with Alix Perrignon de Troyes, Executive Secretary of IOTA, and representatives of the IOTA Secretariat’s Management, including the Strategy and Institutional Development Manager Roman Bichevoy and the Manager of Business Administration and Finance László Muzslay.

The IOTA 2025 Work Programme Activities kicked off this week with an engaging Digital Workshop on "Using Efficient VAT Registration Processes to Identify Fraudulent Applications and Enhance the Customer Experience for Genuine Applicants". This event was broadcast live via Microsoft Teams on February 12-13, 2025, and brought together over 190 tax officials from IOTA member administrations who are involved in VAT registration processes.

On 18-20 February 2025, one of IOTA’s key international partner organisations, the Network of Tax Organisations (NTO) successfully organised its 3rd Technical Conference in Panama City, Panama. The Conference was hosted by the NTO member Inter-American Center of Tax Administrations (CIAT) and brought together over 250 participants, both in person and online, to address the challenges and opportunities present in today’s digital tax environment.
