Boost Your Professional Knowledge this Spring with VITARA

The spring season always brings new beginnings and opportunities for further learning and expanding our professional knowledge with the help of Virtual Training to Advance Revenue Administration (VITARA).

IOTA is glad to inform you that the latest VITARA module on Enterprise Risk Management is available for member tax officials. The first release of the module will be accessible between April 29 and May 20, 2024. The ERM module is the 10th English module in the VITARA portfolio. The registration deadline for this course is May 8, 2024, and you can apply by using this link.

This short, self-paced course provides fundamental knowledge on modern Enterprise Risk Management (ERM) good practices. The strategic goal of ERM is to understand and manage enterprise risks (including compliance, IT, HR, finance, project, and reform-related risks) in a holistic, structured, and systematic fashion. ERM informs strategy and planning and thus improves the quality and viability of strategies and organisational performance. ERM seeks to ensure that significant organisational risks (which can also be thought of as barriers, threats, or obstacles) are recognised. It also ensures that where required, and to the extent possible, these risks are mitigated to acceptable levels and possibly turned into opportunities.

The module is relevant for executives and senior managers dealing with ERM issues in a tax administration. The module is also important for other tax administration staff involved in the implementation of tax administration's ERM policies, identification and prioritisation of risks, and development and oversight of treatment strategies. It also supports executives and managers who have no previous experience in ERM and wish to establish ERM practice in their organisation for the first time.

VITARA stands for Virtual Training to Advance Revenue Administration and is a joint initiative of four organisations, Inter-American Center of Tax Administrations (CIAT), Intra-European Organisation of Tax Administrations (IOTA), International Monetary Fund (IMF), and Organisation for Economic Co-operation and Development (OECD). It was launched in 2020 to develop a highly effective, globally accessible, on-demand, and free online curriculum on revenue administrative issues. The VITARA modules are introductory-level modules designed for busy professionals who wish to improve their skills in tax administration.
